ISAR: Resources for Environmental Activists was founded in 1983, as the Institute for Soviet and American Relations, to encourage citizen diplomacy and facilitate exchange between the US and the Soviet Union. In our more than 20 year history, ISAR has worked with a
Network of offices and partners in Belarus, Central Asia, the Caucasus, Russia, and the Western NIS.
ISAR: Resources for Environmental Activists' mission is to support practical and collaborative resolutions to the environmental threats faced by communities in the former Soviet Union by providing training, technical, and informational resources to individuals and organizations working on environmental issues in the region. These resources serve to build advocacy skills, increase public participation in environmental decision-making, and encourage community level environmental problem-solving. ISAR: Resources for Environmental Activists also works to galvanize international environmental networks by building partnerships based upon common objectives and founded on mutual respect.
