Environmental Health

Healthy people and a healthy environment go hand in hand. However, public comment about environmental degradation and its impact on human health often rests outside of the mandate of scientific research. As a result citizens seeking information about the impact of environment problems on their health are frequently left in the dark.

ISAR: Resources for Environmental Activists recognizes that environmental health is a central component of environmental protection. A health threat greatly motivates communities to join together to solve an environmental problem. The concept of environmental health remains at the ”grassroots“ level in the FSU - it is a torch mainly carried by community mothers, ill citizens, and directly threatened populations - but increasingly, many others are starting to recognize that the public health crisis in the region connects to environmental degradation. ISAR’s programs bring these concerns to the forefront.
